ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் மனிதனுக்கு இந்த உலகமும், உலக வாழ் மக்களும் பல நிகழ்வுகளை உணர வைக்கின்றன... அன்று மாலை பயணச்சீட்டு வாங்கும் இடத்தில் ஒரு வரிசை, சுதந்திர நாட்டில் உழைப்பை தொலைத்த ஒரு கூட்டம்... கையேந்திய படி... ஊனம், குஷ்டம் என ஆண்கள் நிற்க; கர்ப்பிணி, பச்சிளம் குழந்தையின் தாய் என பூவையர் நின்றனர்.

அவர்களை மதிக்காது, மின் தொடர் வண்டியில் பயணம் தொடர்ந்தேன். ஒரு குழந்தை அனைவரின் கவனத்தை ஈர்த்தது; பள்ளியில், ஓடி விளையாடி பாடம் கற்க வேண்டிய பிஞ்சு, கற்றுக் கொண்டதோ ஒரு வளையத்திற்குள் தன உடலை வளைத்து லாவகமாக வெளி வரும் வித்தையை. அது வித்தைக் காட்டும் குலம் அல்ல, கையேந்தியது அதன் தாய் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தபடி. கண்களை நீரால் நிரப்பிய சம்பவம் அது. என்ன பாவம் செய்ததோ அக்குழந்தை, ஏன் இந்த அவலம். அம்மா என்று தன அழகு சொல்லால் அழைத்து வசூலை கொடுத்தது.

அம்மா என்ற சொல் கூட கசக்கும் போல சில தருணங்களில்....

அந்த பெண்ணை அழைத்தேன்; கோபம் பொங்கிய நிலை, மனதை கட்டுபடுத்திக்கொண்டு அக்குழந்தையின் எதிர்காலம் பற்றி சில கேள்விகள் என் நாவில் சுழன்றன... அந்த பெண்ணின் பதில் மனதை அதிர வைக்கும் சில உண்மைகளோடு வெளி வந்தது...

இன்று நம் அரசு மருத்துவமணைகளில் காணாமல் போகும் குழந்தைகளில் அதிகம் பெண் குழந்தைகளே !!!!!!! சில கள்ளி பால் கொடுக்கும் கூட்டம் சற்று முன்னேறி, விலை பேசுகிறது... குடும்பத்தின் பாரம் என கருதி சிலர் குப்பை தொட்டியை தேடுகிறார்கள்... இப்படி உதிக்கும் போதே உதறி தள்ளும் அவலம் பெண் சிசுகளுக்கே... இவர்கள் அதிகம் விலை போவது யசகர்களின் சந்தையில் தான். ஆண் சிசுக்களை காட்டிலும் அதிக லாபம் பெண் சிசுகலால் என்பது அவர்களின் கருத்து.

பெண் அடிமை, பெண்கள் முன்னேற்றம், பெண்கள் இட ஒதுக்கீடு என எது எதுக்கோ குரல் கொடுப்போர் கவனிக்க மறந்த பக்கங்கள் இவை.

பெண்......... சிசுவாயினும்... "இவளும் பெண்".

She is also a Female

Everyday this world and its people have something to teach us. That was a usual day, a usual Indian queue to get travel tickets. I was a part of it and was impatiently looking around when I saw a familiar crowd coming towards us. That was the crowd which has lost their power of labor in this free nation, that crowd filled by (crippled & leprous) men and women (young pregnant & with new born child) who were stretching out their hands, begging for life.

Ignoring them, I boarded the electric train to rush away with the rushing train. A female child, who belonged in school for her age, instead she was giving us a circus show with a ring around her waist. She came near, asked for money I gave her my tears because encouraging her is also a sin in my view, while others gave some money. She dutifully gave the collections to a lady, whom she lovingly called as ‘MOM’.

That was the first time the word MOM sounded bitter.

           Controlling my anger which was thundering my throat, I summoned that lady and asked a few questions about her child future, she replied with some shocking and shaking truth.

          Our government hospitals report, an ever increasing highest number of new born female babies getting lost. The killing tradition has moved a step forward to selling them, few illiterate people consider their female babies a burden and they throw them into dustbins. Beggars show more attention towards a female child, as they yield more profit than a male child. So the demand for the female child is more in beggars market.

          Why are they being punished even before they are born? Why are they considered as garbage by their own parents? People fighting against Male chauvinism, allocation for women, Women development have forgotten to turn these pages.

Always remember, Not only woman are female.
